I know this is a trite claim, but Splash Star is truly the most underrated Precure series. Look past the fact that they tried to cash-in the success of its predecessor and look past their decidedly ugly designs. The slice of life stories are well-written, characters are thought out (there’s a reason Mai is such a talented artist!), and the motifs & themes worked hand-in-hand with the rest of the show. Give it a chance if you haven’t already, you might just appreciate their “ugly” designs.
